Durban's Super Giants will go into their final match of the Betway SA20 with plenty of motivation when they take on the Joburg Super Kings at the Wanderers on Saturday.

It hasn't been a tournament to remember for the Durban side, however they are a proud unit and will want to finish the campaign on a positive note.

With a supremely talented group of players, the Super Giants haven't managed to replicate their sublime 2024 form that saw them beaten finalists.

Heading into their clash in Johannesburg this weekend, captain Keshav Maharaj knows that his team have a lot on the line.

"Sometimes the hard work doesn't transfer to results on the field," Maharaj said. "But in saying that I have enjoyed it once again and I am very proud of my team.

"We've still got a game to go and there is a lot of pride to play for and a lot of honour in our badge, and we owe it to the owners that have invested in us.

"We're not just giving up; we are going to try and be as positive as we can and try and finish as well as we possibly can."

JSK are on a stuttering run of form heading into the play-offs but will again provide Maharaj and his team with a stern test. A positive result will be a pleasant consolation.

"If we can get ourselves a win from this final game then that will be a nice filter into next season."

Looking back on where things have gone wrong, Maharaj feels they lost crucial parts of matches too often.

"We've lost every powerplay whether bowling or batting so that's been the starting point," he mentioned candidly. "When you lose the powerplay by going four wickets down or not picking up wickets with the ball, it's hard to come back from that.

"A big concern was the way we fielded, we didn't look like a team that had energy compared to the side we were last season."

The Super Giants have had a fairly long break since their last match when they lost to the Paarl Royals in the Cape Winelands.

Following their break, they will be eager to put in one last strong performance at a ground that has historically been a high-scoring environment.
