The Springbok Sevens produced an exceptional display to down hosts Australia in the semifinal of the Perth Sevens on Sunday, setting up another explosive clash with South Sea magicians Fiji later on in the final.

The Blitzboks, who lost a narrow game to Fiji 20-14 in Saturday’s pool rounds, and have beaten the island side only once in four attempts this year, will get another chance to have a go at them in the final, which kicks off at 11.04am (CAT, GMT+2). The final is live on SuperSport.

Fiji showed incredible power and pace to blank the All Black Sevens 35-0 in the other semifinal and will enter the final as hot favourites to claim the title.

The Blitzboks though, will know that all four contests have been close, and if they get it right they can claim their second title of the series to add to their win in Cape Town in December.

The Blitzboks opened the scoring against Australia through an early try by Shilton van Wyk, but the Wallaby 7s replied two minutes later through Henry Hutchinson.

It wasn’t until the stroke of halftime that Sebastian Jobb provided some excitement to put the South Africans ahead at the break.

But that lead was wiped out after the break when Ben Dowling scored and converted his own try to leave them just two points behind.

Jobb scored a second to power the Blitzboks into a more comfortable lead before Ricardo Duartee finished off the semifinal to kill off the home side’s hopes of glory.
