Keys defeats Baptiste to seal French Open quarterfinal berth

Australian Open champion Madison Keys saw off fellow American Hailey Baptiste in straight sets on Monday to reach the French Open quarterfinals for the first time since 2019.

The seventh seed ended the run of the 70th-ranked Baptiste with a 6-3, 7-5 victory at Roland Garros.

She will next face another American in Coco Gauff for a semifinal spot after the former US Open winner beat Ekaterina Alexandrova.

Keys reached the semifinals in Paris in 2018 and the last eight the following year, but is playing in the second week for only the second time since.
