Miller time helps Delhi stun Punjab in IPL classic
A superb half century from David Miller helped the Delhi Capitals stun the Punjab Kings with brilliant comeback three-wicket win in their Tata IPL game at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala on Monday night.
Miller struck four sixes and three fours in his 28-ball 51, and it was his 64-run fifth-wicket stand with captain Axar Patel, 56 off 30 balls (8x4; 2x6), that started the comeback from which the lower order finished.

At the start of play the Capitals won the toss and chose to field, with Punjab reaching a strong 210-5 thanks to Priyansh Arya smashing 56 off 33 (2x4; 3x6) at the top of the order, and captain Shreyas Iyer, 598 off 36 (5x4; 3x6) controlling the middle overs with Cooper Connolly, 38 off 27 (3x4; 2x6).
The Capitals' chase then got off to a poor start thanks to some top bowling from Arshdeep Singh, 2-21 in four overs, in the powerplay, with him accounting for the dangerous KL Rahul (9), caught off a top edge by Marco Jansen tracking back, and Sahil Parakh (13), which left them in trouble on 47-3 after six overs.
When Tristan Stubbs (12) was run out by Connolly in the ninth over, the Capitals looked done and dusted on 74-4, before Miller and Patel started the comeback.
Despite Marcus Stoinis nabbing Patel, caught by Ben Dwarshuis at long on at the end of the 14th over, Miller stuck around for a couple more, striking some lusty blows, before he also died by the sword, caught off a huge top edge by keeper Prabhsimran Singh off Dwarshuis, leaving them on 170-6 in the 17th over.
Wonderful knock comes to an end 👏👏

It was then all about the lower order as Ashutosh Sharma, 24 off 10 (2x4; 2x6), Madhav Tiwari, 18* off eight (2x4; 1x6), and Auqib Nabi, 10* off two (1x4; 1x6), finished the game in style as they plundered 46 runs off just 14 balls to power their side home with an over to spare to keep their playoff hopes alive.
Ice in their veins and pure fire in their bats! 🧊🔥

Iyer and Connolly took centre stage with an 83-run stand off 52 balls, but a flurry of wickets set them back, before Suryansh Shedge, 21* off eight (2x4; 2x6), gave them a strong finish to get them over 200.
