Capitals v DSG SA20 match washed out at Centurion

Persistent rain over the day and the evening session has led to the SA20 match between the Pretoria Capitals and Durban’s Super Giants at SuperSport Park in Centurion being washed out on Saturday night.
The rain stopped for a short while which saw a toss, which the Capitals won and chose to bowl, but just as a play was set to start on a 16-over-a-side match, the rain returned which led to the match eventually being called off without a ball being bowled.

It is the third match of the day on the Highveld to be impacted by poor weather after the afternoon’s SA20 clash between the Joburg Super Kings and Sunrisers Eastern Cape at the Wanderers abandoned due to rain and lightning.
The SA U19s match against the Indian U19s in Benoni was then curtailed due to rain and lightning, which saw the visiting side triumph on the DLS method.
It isn’t an ideal result for either team as they are both forced to share the spoils, gaining two points each.
That sees DSG move above the Paarl Royals into third on the log on eight points, but they have played the most matches of any of the teams, with five, and have played two more than the Royals who are level on points with them.
The Capitals remain fifth on the log, but are now on seven points having played four matches so far, and both teams will know that they are entering must win territory as the pool stage goes past the midway point.
The Capitals next game is at home to the Sunrisers on Monday, while the Super Kings head to Cape Town to face MI Cape Town on Tuesday.
