Matsatsantsa fall into PSL relegation playoff spot
SuperSport United dipped into the dreaded PSL relegation zone following a demoralising 2-0 loss against Richards Bay in the Betway Premiership on Saturday afternoon, with the latter sneaking into the league’s top eight in the process.
Goals in either half by Yamela Mbuthuma and Thulani Gumede meant that the Tshwane side finished their matchday 27 obligations in 15th position.

SuperSport still have 45 minutes left of Betway Premiership action to complete, as their postponed fixture with Golden Arrows (on 23rd February) will be set to resume from the second half.
While the game was halted at 1-1 due to loadshedding, a date is yet to be scheduled for the all-important fixture.
The Natal Rich Boyz produced the first attempt at goal as early as the third minute after Fezile Gcaba’s right-footed shot from within the 18-yard-area went narrowly wide of the mark.
While SuperSport battled to get consistent control of the game, Bradley Grobler came close to opening the scoring in the 19th minute after his attempt from range was saved by Richards Bay goalkeeper Salim Magoola.
Following a couple of goal-scoring opportunities, Richards Bay took the lead moments after the half-hour mark courtesy of a well-taken header by Mbuthuma from the middle of the box.
Missed attempts by Siyabonga Ndebele and Christian Saile leading up to the 45th minute mark left SuperSport trailing at the break while Richards Bay did well to keep the Tshwane side at bay.
With Richards Bay playing on the front foot, the Natal Rich Boyz doubled their advantage in the 61st minute as Gumede added to SuperSport’s troubles.
Despite making numerous attacking substitutions in the second half, SuperSport were often left frustrated by missed goal-scoring chances, as seen by attempts through striker Samir Nurkovic.
In the end it was not to be for SuperSport as Richards Bay left the Peter Mokaba Stadium as 2-0 winners.
