The Big Three occupy the CAF berths in the Betway Premiership after Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs all won in midweek.

Sundowns returned to winning ways as they beat TS Galaxy 1-0 at Loftus Versfeld on Wednesday to go three points clear at the top of the table.

Arthur Sales scored the only goal of the game on 61 minutes as the Brazilians opened up a three-point gap to Pirates and Chiefs, while the Rockets slipped down to eighth place after suffering their third defeat in four matches.

The Buccaneers extended their unbeaten run to eight games with a 3-1 victory over Golden Arrows at the King Zwelithini Stadium.

Abdeslam Ouaddou's side hit the front through Nkosikhona Ndaba on 23 minutes before Khumalo Thokozani equalised for Abafana Bes'thende in the 72nd minute. However, Yanela Mbuthuma quickly restored the Sea Robbers' lead moments later and he sealed the win three minutes from time.

Pirates climbed above their Soweto arch-rivals on goal difference after Amakhosi had momentarily moved up to second place courtesy of a 4-1 triumph over Orbit College at the FNB Stadium on Tuesday.

A brace from Mduduzi Shabalala (4', 61') put the Glamour Boys 2-0 up before Ayanda Lukhele pulled one back for the Mswenko Boyz on 71 minutes, only for Mfundo Vilakazi (73') to swiftly restore their two-goal cushion and Flavio Silva (89') wrapped up the win late on.

Meanwhile, Sekhukhune United's poor run of form continued after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Richards Bay at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium.

Babina Noko took the lead through Tshepo Mabua's own-goal on 68 minutes, but they were denied a first win in four games when Gabadinho Mhango equalised eight minutes later.

Eric Tinkler's side dropped to fourth position, one point behind the Soweto duo and four adrift of league leaders Sundowns.

Siwelele made more gains in the Betway Premiership after a 2-0 victory over Stellenbosch at Athlone Stadium lifted them up to 10th spot.

Goals in each half from Tebogo Potsane (3') and Siviwe Magidigidi (49') made it three wins in four matches for Lehlohonolo Seema's side, who had recorded just one victory from their opening eight games.

The Maroons are languishing down in 15th position, just two points above basement club Chippa United, who played out to a 0-0 draw with Magesi at Buffalo City Stadium.

Elsewhere, Haashim Domingo's 79th-minute goal handed Durban City a 1-0 success against Marumo Gallants at Chatsworth Stadium and Bulelani Nikani (15') scored the only goal of the game at the Princess Magogo Stadium as Polokwane City beat AmaZulu by the same scoreline.
