TS Galaxy coach Adnan Beganovic saw their 1-1 draw away at Cape Town City on Wednesday as a boost to his side’s chances of progress up the Betway Premiership table.

“It was a tough game. We expected as much because we knew that City hadn’t won in their last five games, and so we needed to prepare ourselves (for an onslaught) in this game. In the end, when we take in account all that happened through the 90 minutes, I think it was a fair result.”

City took the lead in the 31st minute through Darwin Gonzalez but eight minutes later Galaxy were level when Mlungisi Mbunjana headed home at the back post from a corner.

“After the 60th minute, maybe we had a little bit more energy, and then we pressed a little bit more to try to score a second goal, to take all three points. But in the end, we take home one and we can be happy with that.”

The result kept Galaxy in seventh place, but they are only two points adrift of third-placed Stellenbosch.

“From when I became head coach in this club, I’ve said our goal is to, first of all, refresh and put some confidence in the team. Then I knew with the quality that we have, we can reach the top eight.

“Now I believe that maybe, maybe, if we have a little bit of luck in the league, maybe we can reach a little bit more,” Begnaovic added.
