Following Orlando Pirates' win over Stellenbosch earlier this week, the Buccaneers will once again look to close the gap on log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns when they take on Magesi this Saturday.

Despite sitting in second-spot, Pirates will be licking their lips at the prospect of leapfrogging Sundowns given that they have a game in hand over the reigning league champions, coupled with a superior goal difference.

While Sundowns recorded a 1-1 draw with Kaizer Chiefs last time out, Pirates drew closer to the top following their 2-0 win over Stellenbosch at the Athlone Stadium on Tuesday night.

Now, though, Bucs are putting plans in place to take on Magesi at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday.

As it stands, Sundowns have 65 points after 28 matches, while Pirates trail the top by three points with three games left to play.

Downs on the other hand, will take on Siwelele at the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium on Saturday, as they look to re-enter the winning column once more.

Elsewhere, third-placed Kaizer Chiefs are hoping to overcome their barren run of four games without a victory when they face Sekhukhune United at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday.

Prior to Chiefs' draw with Sundowns, Amakhosi suffered a 2-0 defeat against Siwelele, a result that followed back-to-back stalemates with Polokwane City and Orlando Pirates respectively.

In the hunt for survival, Magesi currently occupy 16th spot on the log ahead of their game against Pirates, two points adrift of safety.

Meanwhile, Marumo Gallants are 15th, sitting in the promotion playoff position, one point away from safety.

Gallants, who recorded four consecutive draws in the Betway Premiership, will take on Richards Bay FC at home on Saturday, with the latter sitting in 11th position on 32 points, four points from the lucrative top eight.
