RACE FOR AFRICA
Stellenbosch or Orlando Pirates will join Mamelodi Sundowns in the CAF Champions League. Stellenbosch and Pirates will play in African competition next season it is to be determined which tournament they will feature in.
Stellenbosch with a win will end second their highest finish in a top flight season, and will qualify for the CAF Champions League.
Should Stellenbosch and Pirates’ final league results be the same then Stellenbosch will end in second place.
A win for Pirates and failure by Stellenbosch to win will see Pirates go to the CAF Champions League and Stellenbosch will end third and qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup.
With the fourth placed team also qualifying for the CAF Confederation Cup as Sundowns meet Pirates in the Nedbank Cup Final, four teams TS Galaxy, SuperSport, Sekhukhune and Cape Town City can all end fourth.
TS Galaxy will end fourth with a win in their final game of the season away to Polokwane City.
SuperSport can climb above TS Galaxy with a win in their final league game against Orlando Pirates away from home, as long as TS Galaxy fails to win against Polokwane City.
Sekhukhune can end in fourth place with a win away against Chippa United, they would also need to for TS Galaxy to lose and SuperSport to not win. They will also need to have a better goal difference then TS Galaxy as it stands they have a plus 6 goal difference while Galaxy’s is plus 7. They also need Cape Town City to not win by more than a single goal.
Cape Town City can end in fourth with a win against Mamelodi Sundowns away from home, they would also need TS Galaxy, SuperSport and Sekhukhune to not win. Should they and Sekhukhune win and TS Galaxy draw three teams will end on 45 points, they would need to have a superior goal difference. They would need to beat Sundowns by two or more goals.
TOP EIGHT
As it stands Sundowns, Stellenbosch, Pirates, TS Galaxy, SuperSport, Sekhukhune and Cape Town City have qualified for next seasons MTN8, TS Galaxy have confirmed a top eight finish for the first time.
The final top eight spot will be contested between Kaizer Chiefs, AmaZulu, Polokwane City, Golden Arrows and Chippa United.
Chiefs will qualify with a win in their final game against Cape Town City, AmaZulu could snatch eighth place with a win against Golden Arrows should Chiefs fail to win.
Polokwane City could end in 8th should Chiefs and AmaZulu both fail to win and they win at home against Sekhukhune United.
Golden Arrows could reach the MTN8 with a win against AmaZulu should Chiefs and Polokwane City fail to win.
Chippa United still have a chance to end in the top eight they will need to win their final game and hope that Chiefs, Polokwane City, AmaZulu and Arrows fail to win. A win for Chippa and draws for the other teams will see Chippa qualify as they have a superior goal difference.
RELEGATION PLAYOFFS
Cape Town Spurs are already relegated.
Richards Bay will go to the playoffs with a loss, regardless of Royal AM’s result.
Royal AM could lose and avoid the playoffs as long as Richards Bay don’t not win.
Royal AM with a loss will go to the play-offs should Richards Bay win, there will also need to be a six goal swing in order for this to happen as they have a -14 goal difference and Richards Bay a -20 goal difference.
