Hunt happy with Durban City progress
Newly promoted Durban City have run the gauntlet of a series of tough away games in the early stages of their first Betway Premiership season and come out to the satisfaction of coach Gavin Hunt.
The latest was a goalless draw away against Stellenbosch on Wednesday which left City in sixth place in the standings with 12 points from their opening eight fixtures.
Five of these eight games have been played away – at TS Galaxy, Polokwane City, Sekhukhune United, Mamelodi Sundowns and Stellenbosch, where Hunt felt they could have come away with all three points.
“I thought we had a couple of good moments, especially in the first half, and then in the second half, as well, and then, obviously, the last 15 minutes, they threw the kitchen sink at us.
“So then it was a little bit holding on, but I thought we had better chances before that, and there were some moments.”
“We’ve played five away games, all against top teams. So, it augurs well for what's coming ahead. But I mean, there's no easy games in the PSL.
“We’ve just got to try and box clever, and do our thing, and try and come to these type of fixtures, and try and get ourselves out of here, unscathed and then move on, you know?
“We're not bad at home, so that's important, but, I mean, it doesn't always guarantee you're going to win,” he added.
