Lamontville Golden Arrows might have won only one of their last seven matches but new co-coach Musa Bilankulu feels they could still finish inside the top eight of the Betway Premiership this season.

Arrows, who were eliminated from the Nedbank Cup at the first hurdle last month, take on Cape Town City away at the Athlone Stadium on Wednesday, having been handed a 4-0 hammering at Mamelodi Sundowns on Sunday.

It left them in eighth spot in the Betway Premiership but only above neighbours AmaZulu on goal difference.

“I believe that the top eight is the mandate now and I believe that we will achieve that given the performances that we've been showing, we just need to be consistent in our games and take our chances. I believe that we will still make the top eight. We are still in the first round (of league fixtures). We'll still fight for more points in the second round,” said Bilankulu.

He and Kagiso Dikagcoi took over as co-coaches after Mabhuti Khenyeza walked out on the club in mid-December.

“We're still young, yes, and every game is a teacher,” he said of Sunday’s loss at Atteridgeville to the champions.

“And these kinds of games, they even give the players the lessons that when you play against this quality of side, you need to pay attention to details so that you can grow as a player, and even for us coaches, we will really grow when we face this kind of situations,” Bilankulu added.

Arrows have finished in ninth place in each of the last three league seasons.
