Pirates close gap on Sundowns, AmaZulu victorious
Orlando Pirates made sure to close the gap on Betway Premiership leaders this weekend following a hard-fought 2-0 win over Magesi at the Orlando Amstel Arena on Saturday.
In what was Pirates’ first home game of the new year, the Soweto giants were victorious at the new-look Orlando Amstel Arena as Yanela Mbuthuma and Relebohile Mofokeng got their names on the scoresheet before the halftime whistle.

As it stands, Pirates have now levelled Mamelodi Sundowns 32-point haul after 14 games played, with an extra fixture in hand.
Adding to their blistering form, Pirates extended their unbeaten run to 12 matches in the Betway Premiership and will now take on AmaZulu in their next league assignment.
Regarding Usuthu, the KwaZulu-Natal outfit put their name among the best performing teams in the league this weekend following a 1-0 win against Marumo Gallants at the Dr Molemela Stadium on Saturday.
AmaZulu are keeping up with the pace set by Sundowns and Pirates and are two points adrift from the summit after jotting down three victories on the bounce.
