Stellenbosch FC showed character as they grabbed two late goals to beat TS Galaxy 3-2 in the Betway Premiership match played at the Mbombela Stadium on Tuesday night.

The comeback win elevated Stellies to the seventh spot in the league standings and they will be looking to make it back-to-back victories in this competition when they take on Richards Bay away on 21 February.

The Rockets, on the other hand, remain fifth in the standings after registering their fifth league defeat of the season and they will be determined to bounce back to winning ways when they face Mamelodi Sundowns on 22 January.

The pacey Devin Titus became a thorn in the Rockets' defence from the start and he broke the deadlock in the 17th minute. Andre De Jong set up Titus who made no mistake as he beat goalkeeper Ira Eliezer Tapé to make it 1-0 to Stellenbosch.

The hosts reacted by applying pressure on Stellies and they managed to level matters in the 31st minute. Victor Letsoalo was the man who levelled matters as the experienced forward beat keeper Sage Stephens and the score was 1-1 during the halftime break.

The Rockets were the better side after the restart and they deservedly took the lead for the first time in the 48th minute. Kamogelo Sebelebele set up Dzenan Zajmovic who scored to make it 2-1 to Galaxy with the Stellies defence exposed.

Coach Steve Barker pulled out Khomotjo Lekoloane and introduced Ashley Cupido in the 74th minute and the latter netted in the 83rd minute to make it 2-2. Cupido was not done yet as the former Cape Town Spurs star grabbed his brace in the 90th minute to hand Stellenbosch a 3-2 win.
