As expected, persistent rain ended up washing out the entire day two of the CSA 4-Day Series match between the Momentum Multiply Titans and Goldrush Boland at SuperSport Park in Centurion on Friday.

After the morning session was washed out and an early lunch called, constant rain and conditions not looking like they would improve in the afternoon, meant a call was made in the early afternoon to rule out the rest of the day's play.

On day one the match got off to a late start because of a wet outfield, and then play was possible until bad light called an early tea in the afternoon, followed by rain washing the rest of the day's play out.

It was an up and down first day for Boland who started well in reaching lunch on 80-0, but were then reduced to 156-5 by tea and ultimately stumps when no further play was possible.

Pieter Malan (78*) was standing tall and once play resumes will be aiming for a century, while Grant Roelofsen (44) looked in good nick, before he was the first wicket to fall on Thursday.

Ethan-John Cunningham (18*) will eventually resume with Malan and they will hope to build on their unbeaten 25-run sixth wicket stand, while Titans debutant Janco Smit, 2-26, has been the pick of the bowlers so far and will be eager for more wickets.

Poor weather is expected over the final two days of the match and that means the Titans will be nervously keeping an eye on the Warriors v Dolphins match in Gqeberha.

Currently that is the only match in play, with the Knights v Lions game in Bloemfontein and the Dragons v Western Province game in Potchefstroom, both having their opening two days washed out.

The Lions currently top the CSA 4-Day Series log, with the Titans second, Dolphins third, Western Province fourth and Boland fifth, all still realistically in with a chance of qualifying for the final.

So if there is no result in three of the games, the Lions will likely finish top of the log and host the final, while the second placed team would come down to the Titans or Dolphins, if they are able to get a win over the Warriors.
