All eyes will be on Kruger United and Cape Town City in the Betway Premiership this week, as the teams prepare to do battle in a first-versus-second clash on Wednesday afternoon.

Much of the focus in the Motsepe Foundation Championship has been placed on the race for Betway Premiership status, as the likes of Hungry Lions, Milford FC and Cape Town City chase Kruger United at the top of the pile.

As it stands, Kruger hold a five-point lead over second-placed City with five games to go, as the two sides are scheduled to do battle on Wednesday afternoon.

Kruger have won each of their last three league ties, while City will go into the next fixture on the back of a frustrating 0-0 draw with Hungry Lions.

Milford, who are also five points adrift of the summit, currently occupy third on the table and will take on Venda Football Academy on Wednesday. Milford’s drop off came as a result of recording two wins, two losses and one draw in their last five, while Hungry Lions breathe down their necks in fourth position.

Hungry Lions sit five points away from the automatic promotion position and will now go toe-to-toe with the University of Pretoria on Wednesday.

The Northern Cape side noted three wins and two draws in their last five, while AmaTuks will be looking to overcome their four-match winless streak that includes three consecutive losses to The Bees, Highbury and Black Leopards respectively.

At the tail end of the standings, Black Leopards could move out of the drop zone with a win against The Bees on Tuesday afternoon.

Lidoda Duvha made giant strides toward safety in the last couple of weeks, most notably after back-to-back wins against Tuks and Casric Stars. Leopards will enter their next game in 15th position, one point away from safety, while The Bees are in 12th place after their 2-0 loss to Venda Football Academy last time out.
