Ismaila Sarr helped end the 100 per cent start to the Premier League season for Liverpool with a goal in Crystal Palace’s 2-1 home win, while Antoine Semenyo continued his red hot start to the campaign with another superb goal for Bournemouth.

Here is a round-up of Africa’s top performers in Europe’s elite leagues.

ISMAILA SARR (SENEGAL & CRYSTAL PALACE)

Next fixture: Everton (a)

Crystal Palace extended their unbeaten run in all competitions to 18 games with a 2-1 victory over Premier League leaders Liverpool at Selhurst Park. Sarr netted for the third league game in a row when he turned the ball home from close range after Liverpool failed to clear a corner, and in truth Palace could have been 4-0 up at halftime.

They needed to leave it late for their winner, but were fully deserving of their three points. They are among the form teams in the top flight right now and Sarr has been a big part of that as he finds a sharp edge in front of goal.

ANTOINE SEMENYO (GHANA & BOURNEMOUTH)

Next fixture: Fulham (h)

Semenyo gave Bournemouth the lead at Leeds United but The Cherries had to battle back to earn a late point in a 2-2 draw. The Ghana star’s superb free-kick from 30 yards looked to have set his side on the way to victory, but it was not to be.

However, he continues his fine individual form with six goal contributions in six games, including four goals himself. There is no doubt he is Bournemouth’s star man and the player they build the team around. He is living up to that expectation.

YANKUBA MINTEH (GAMBIA & BRIGHTON)

Next fixture: Wolves (a)

Brighton picked up a superb 3-1 away win at Stamford Bridge as they put Chelsea to the sword and once again winger Minteh was central to their success. Chelsea led into the 77th minute, before Brighton finished much the stronger and their equaliser was laid on by Minteh, whose superb cross was perfect for Danni Welbeck to score the first of his two goals.

That is now two assists and a goal for Minteh in six games this season, with all of them coming in the previous three matches.

KAMALDEEN SULEMANA (GHANA & ATALANTA)

Next fixture: Hellas Verona (a)

Atalanta held Juventus to a 1-1 draw in Turin and the man with the goal for the visitors was Sulemana, who netted for the second fixture in a row.

That is now two goals and an assist in three starts this season, proving just why Atalanta brought in the winger. Sulemana picked up the ball just outside the Juve box, went on a mazy run into the area and fired low into the bottom right corner. It was a superb finish from the 23-year-old former Southampton man.

AKOR ADAMS (NIGERIA & SEVILLA)

Next fixture: Barcelona (h)

Sevilla have had a mixed start to the new LaLiga season but picked up a 1-0 away win at Rayo Vallecano to move up to ninth in the table. Their win was handed to them by a goal from Nigerian Adams, his first for the club since arriving in Seville in January.

It looked as though the game would end 0-0 before a low cross found Adams at the back post and he steered the ball into the net off the underside of the crossbar. His goal goes with one assist in three starts this season. Next up is a home game against mighty Barcelona this weekend.
