Rickelton, Bumrah steer Mumbai to thumping win over Rajasthan
Ryan Rickelton and Rohit Sharma added 116 for the first wicket to set up the Mumbai Indians total of 217-2 and a titanic 100-run victory against the Rajasthan Royals in their IPL match at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Thursday.
Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult (3-28) then claimed two early wickets apiece to shatter the Royals’ reply before recovering – slightly – to 117 all out in 16.1 overs with England fast bowler, Jofra Archer, bizarrely top-scoring with a fun but futile 30 containing a pair of fours and sixes.

Rickelton (61 from 38 balls) was once again in prime form with seven fours and three sixes driven straight and pulled over midwicket before missing a quicker ball from Sri Lankan mystery spinner Maheesh Theekshana while Rohit was given an early reprieve when an lbw decision was reversed on appeal having pitched fractionally outside leg stump.

The former Indian captain capitalised on his good fortune with nine fours in his 53 from 36 balls before under-clubbing a drive against legspinner Riyan Parag to long on, but Suryakumar Yadav and captain Hardik Pandya capitalised mercilessly with identical innings of 48 not out from 23 balls apiece with 10 fours and four sixes between them.
TEEN SENSATION OUT FOR A DUCK
The Rajasthan run-chase began poorly and never improved when 14-year-old sensation, Vaibhav Ruyavanshi, toe-ended the fourth ball from Deepak Chahar to mid-on for a duck and fellow opener Yashasvi Jaiswal (13) was bowled having a wild slog at Trent Boult.
Nitish Rana (9) miscued Boult to cover and when the imperious Bumrah (4-0-15-2) removed Riyan Parag (16) and Shimron Hetmyer with the consecutive deliveries the score was 47-5 inside the Power Play and the game was all-but over.
It was Mumbai’s sixth consecutive delivery and seventh from 11 games moving them to the top of the log – ahead of Royal Challengers Bangalore on net run-rate - while the Royals became the second team to be eliminated from playoff contention along with the Chennai Super Kings.
