Marumo Gallants secured a 3-1 win over Magesi FC in the Nedbank Cup Last 32 match at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Tuesday night.

As a result, Bahlabane Ba Ntwa progressed to the Last 16 and they will now take on Al Akhdar of Libya in a CAF Confederation Cup match in Soweto on Sunday.

Dikwena Tsa Meetse bowed out of the South African FA Cup and they will be looking to bounce back to winning ways when they face JDR Stars in a Motsepe Foundation Championship match on 18 February.

Bahlabane Ba Ntwa exerted pressure on the Dikwena Tsa Meetse's defence from the first whistle and they were awarded a penalty which was converted by Letsie Koapeng to hand Gallants a 1-0 lead in the 27th minute.

The hosts continued to launch attacks after breaking the deadlock and they doubled their lead through Judas Moseamedi, who made it 2-0 on the stroke of halftime and it was the bulky marksman's first goal for Gallants.

Magesi were struggling to contain the 2022 Nedbank Cup finalists and Tebogo Thangwane netted in first-half stoppage time to make it 3-0 to the hosts, who were deservedly leading during the halftime in Rustenburg.

Coach Clinton Larsen pulled out Donald Mokondelela and introduced Tebogo Makalapa prior to the start of the second half as Magesi looked to fight back and at least score three goals without conceding.

The visitors surged forward in numbers and they managed to pull one back through Kagiso Selemela, who hit the back of the net just a minute before the hour-mark after the Gallants defence was exposed.

However, Gallants were then able to contain the visitors in the latter stages of the entertaining cup encounter and ultimately Bahlabane Ba Ntwa emerged as 3-1 winners over Magesi on the night.
