TS Galaxy lost 2-1 at home to Marumo Gallants at the Mbombela Stadium in this weekend’s Betway Premiership games on Sunday night, while Kaizer Chiefs also fell to Golden Arrows with the same scoreline at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday evening.

Abafana Bes’Thende head coach Manqoba Mngqithi stated that he thought his team could’ve beaten Chiefs with a bigger scoreline and subtly bragged about beating the team three times this season.

"I have beaten Kaizer Chiefs FC four (three) times this season. This game could have been a different scoreline than it is suggested if my players took those missed chances,” he boasted.

While Mngqithi's team strengthened their top-eight prospects, AmaKhosi coach Nasreddine Nabi lamented his team's missed first-half opportunities.

"We feel we controlled the game in the first half and could have scored as we were in a very good moment but we didn’t," he said after the match.

Magesi successfully continued their bid for survival when they defeated Stellenbosch 1-0 at the Seshego Stadium in the evening, with Zimbabwean goalkeeper Elvis Chipezeze keeping his 11th clean sheet this season.

It was also Dikwena tsa Meetse’s fifth home win on the spin as they kept up their resurgence in the league.

Coach Owen Da Gama highlighted what the team need to do to maintain their winning streak.

“I think we need to work on two areas of concern. No 1 is possession, and No 2 is scoring,” said Da Gama.

“You know, we do score, but we could be scoring more. For example, if you score a second goal, it takes off the pressure more and puts more pressure on the opponents.”

Sunday’s fixtures also saw Polokwane City put an end to their winless run in the league, collecting three points in a 3-1 win against Richards Bay at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium in the afternoon.

SuperSport United played to a goalless draw with Cape Town City at the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium, as the two sides found themselves fighting to get out of the danger zone in Andre Arendse’s first match in charge of Matsantsantsa.
