Kaizer Chiefs and Sekhukhune United are both eyeing top spot in the Betway Premiership as the two sides meet at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg on Tuesday.

Kick-off is at 7:30pm CAT.

CURRENT FORM

Chiefs sit third on the Betway Premiership log, tied with Sekhukhune on 13 points, but behind on goal difference.

In stark contrast to last season, Amakhosi have enjoyed a stellar start to the 2025-26 campaign, having won four of their first five games and drawing one. They are yet to concede a goal this season.

Sitting second on the log, Sekhukhune have the exact same record as Chiefs in the league this season, winning four and drawing one of their five games played.

Babina Noko have a two-goal advantage over their upcoming opponents, having a goal difference of seven to Chiefs’ five.

Both sides are just one point behind league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns with a game in hand, and will be competing to claim first place on Tuesday.

WHAT WAS SAID

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi stated his side has been hard at work during the international break.

“We have tried to take advantage of this international break to improve our […] physical condition and tactical principles, especially the first week of the international break,” said Nabi ahead of the fixture.

“We are heading into a busy schedule ahead of us and we want everyone to be ready when [they] are needed.”

Sekhukhune United head coach Eric Tinkler said that his side are aiming for maximum points on Tuesday.

“I think we are still hunters – it’s still early days. Right now, we are focused on ourselves, trying to collect as many points as we can. We go into every game with the mindset that we want to win, irrespective of who we play — whether it’s a big or small club.”

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Kaizer Chiefs - Mduduzi Shabalala: Fresh from his first Bafana Bafana call up, Mduduzi Shabalala will look to continue his fine form. The attacker’s pace could present problems for the visitors as he looks to open his account for the season.

Sekhukhune United - Bradley Grobler: Veteran striker Grobler has enjoyed his start to life at Sekhukhune. He has bagged two goals in his first five league outings for the club and is looking to become the second player to pass Siyabonga Nomvethe's goal-scoring record this season.
