A midweek round of Betway Premiership action will feature Kaizer Chiefs and Sekhukhune United putting their unbeaten records on the line when they meet on Tuesday, while Wednesday features Mamelodi Sundowns chasing a hat-trick of league wins. Catch the action live on SuperSport.

Chiefs and Sekhukhune have been the pace-setters of the Premiership season thus far, with each racking up four wins and a draw from the opening five rounds to co-lead the table (until Sundowns leapfrogged them by playing an extra match this past weekend, defeating Magesi FC).

While the Amakhosi’s strong start is seen as a big club living up to the standards they should be setting (after several campaigns of notable under-performance), Sekhukhune’s form has been eye-raising.

Under the leadership of Eric Tinkler (who was named coach of the month for August), Babina Noko have the ambition of competing with the traditional heavyweights – and this clash with Chiefs presents them with a chance to underline their status as a rising force in the Premiership.

“I prefer to be the hunter,” said Tinkler of his team’s attitude.“I think we are still hunters – it’s still early days. Right now, we are focused on ourselves, trying to collect as many points as we can. We go into every game with the mindset that we want to win, irrespective of who we play — whether it’s a big or small club.”

Aside from the Chiefs v Sekhukhune match at FNB Stadium, Tuesday evening also features a bottom-of-the-log clash which sees Chippa United chasing their first win when they host Orbit College at the Buffalo City Stadium, while top-flight newcomers Siwelele FC and Durban City will cross swords at the Chatsworth Stadium.

Wednesday features Sundowns heading to Bloemfontein for a battle with Marumo Gallants at the Dr Molemela Stadium, with the Brazilians looking to build further momentum in their bid for a ninth successive title – especially in a midweek when one or both of Chiefs and Sekkukhune will drop points, while Orlando Pirates are absent due to their CAF Champions League preliminary qualifier away to Lesotho’s Lioli FC this coming weekend.

The other matches slated for Wednesday evening see AmaZulu host MTN8 champions/runners-up Stellenbosch FC at Princess Magogo Stadium, Polokwane City and Golden Arrows will have a scrap at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium, and TS Galaxy will look to extend their winning run to four matches when they face Richards Bay away from home.

The latter fixture will have special significance for the Natal Rich Boyz, as it will see them make a return to the Richards Bay Stadium (also known as Umhlathuze Stadium) after having to host matches at the Princess Magogo and King Zwelithini Stadiums since their promotion in 2022.
