A great opportunity for everyone to prove themselves – Bafana coach Broos

Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has emphasised that he will not put undue pressure on the new players in his squad, instead focusing on their performances in upcoming international friendlies against Tanzania and Mozambique.
With both matches set to take place at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane—on 6 June 2025, and 10 June 2025—Broos highlighted the importance of evaluating his squad, particularly the newcomers.
The Belgian coach also confirmed that Nkosinathi Sibisi will captain the team during these fixtures, as regular skipper Ronwen Williams is preparing for the Club World Cup in the United States with Mamelodi Sundowns.
“Performance is the most important thing,” Broos said on Monday.
“We want to win both matches, and we will do everything to achieve that. But more importantly, I want to assess the players—especially the new ones—without putting too much pressure on them. They just need to play their game, and from there, we will evaluate and plan for the future.”
COMPETITIVE OPPONENTS AWAIT
Broos acknowledged that while Tanzania and Mozambique may not be Africa’s strongest sides, they are certainly no pushovers.
“Both teams competed in Afcon last year, and Mozambique is in a good position to qualify for next year’s World Cup. These will be solid opponents, providing a real test for our squad. It’s a great opportunity for everyone to prove themselves and showcase their abilities.”
