Chiefs ease past Chippa in Nedbank Cup
Kaizer Chiefs advanced to the quarterfinals of the Nedbank Cup after defeating Chippa United 3-0 at the FNB Stadium in Nasrec on Saturday evening.
The Amakhosi joined SuperSport United, Stellenbosch FC, Durban City, Orlando Pirates and Marumo Gallants in the next round thanks to goals from Gaston Sirino, Inacio Miguel and Pule Mmodi.
The win is a fourth from six matches across all competitions from Chiefs, who are showing signs of improvement under coach Nasreddine Nabi, and need to triumph in this competition to prevent taking their trophy drought into an 11th year.

Chiefs made most of the early running, threatening through a shot from Makabi Lilepo which flashed wide of the mark, before claiming the lead in the 13th minute via Gaston Sirino.
An extended passing move from the hosts ended with Reeve Frosler driving in a low cross from the right and Sirino struck an unstoppable drive into the top corner of the net for 1-0.

A confident Amakhosi outfit went on to boss the next quarter hour, playing some fine football in the process, though they were unable to capitalise on their dominance and extend their lead.
Chippa gradually gained a foothold in the game and ended the first half as the better team, putting the hosts’ defence under pressure through a couple of set piece situations, as well as a volley from Giovanni Philander which forced a sharp save from goalkeeper Bruce Bvuma in the final minute of regulation time.
The Chilli Boys introduced veteran midfielder Andile Jali at the start of the second half, but they were unable to build the same kind of attacking pressure they enjoyed prior to the interval.
Chiefs gradually reasserted control and earned a penalty with just under a quarter hour of regulation time to play, as Chippa goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali spilt a ball near the edge of the box and then proceeded to trip up both Pule Mmodi and Mduduzi Shabalala.
Defender Inacio Miguel took the spot kick and dispatched the ball into the back of the net confidently for a 2-0 lead.

The Amakhosi added a third late on, with Mmodi stabbing home from close range after Nwabali could only parry a low drive from Ranga Chivavairo back into the danger area.
The two teams will next be in action in the Betway Premiership on Tuesday 18 February, with Chiefs at home to SuperSport United and Chippa away to Cape Town City.
