Cape Town City will be looking to ease their relegation fears when they host Sekhukhune United in Sunday's Betway Premiership match at the DHL Stadium.

Kick-off is at 5:30pm CAT (SA, GMT+2)

CURRENT FORM

The Citizens are enduring an 11-match winless run across all competitions, having drawn 0-0 with SuperSport United away on 30 March and they have drawn three of their last four games.

City find themselves placed 14th in the Betway Premiership standings - two points above the relegation zone and a victory over Sekhukhune would see the Citizens move further away from the bottom two spots.

Meanwhile, Sekhukhune are now winless in their last two matches across all competitions, having suffered a 1-0 defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns away in the Nedbank Cup on 28 March and it was their second defeat in a row.

Babina Noko are occupying the fifth spot in the Betway Premiership standings - one point behind third-placed Stellenbosch FC and a win over City would elevate Sekhukhune to the third place if other results go their way.

TEAM NEWS

Cape Town City have no suspension concerns coming into this match as they face their former coach, Eric Tinkler, for the first time since his departure last December.

Sekhukhune United, on the other hand, will be without the trio of Daniel Cardoso, Siphesihle Mkhize and Keletso Makgalwa, who are all suspended.

WHAT WAS SAID?

Cape Town City coach Diogo Peral

“We need wins to get out of the situation that we're in, but we were playing away to a good team," Peral said.

"A point away from home, considering how many goals we've been conceding away from home this season, I think it's 20, we take the point and we go back home and see what we can do there.

“Yes, the point doesn't help our situation ... we know we need three points, but these guys [SuperSport] are direct competitors in the relegation zone, so if you go and lose a game against them, they get ahead of you, so we needed to find a balance.”

Sekhukhune United coach Eric Tinkler

"To come up against a team of this quality like Mamelodi Sundowns, is never easy, for any team, obviously the planning and preparation leading up to the game was important, I think we must have a spy somewhere," Tinkler said.

"They picked up certain things in our plans ahead of the game, looking how they structured themselves in the first half, I don't think they've done that this season, so somewhere along the lines they must have found out what we've done during the week.

"In the first half we had the better chances, [Renaldo] Learner didn't have to make a save, his saves came later in the game, I thought the team was good and I was very proud, but things changed after the 60th minute, all the momentum went their way and we lost structure and shape."
