Klate wants to develop the right kind of winning mindset

Durban City coach Daine Klate has stressed the significance of developing a winning mentality in the DStv Diski Challenge youngsters.

Over the years, the Diski Challenge League has proven to be a stepping stone for young players to kickstart their careers. Klate stated that it's no longer just about fine-tuning their tactical and technical skills; winning has also become important.

" This (Diski Challenge) is the final step of development for them to jump into PSL and to win football matches. We need to test them about winning, getting results to prepare them for what is ahead because when they get to PSL it is all about results," stated Klate.

"Yes maybe we think it is not about results, it is development, but I am saying we got to teach them about (getting) results. My aim and duty are to help them improve tactically and technically but other than that I am excited to work with them it is a group of goo boys and they are willing to learn from me."

Durban City will face a tough test this weekend when they lock horns with Mamelodi Sundowns at Solomon Mahlangu Stadium 12:30 noon.

City are still searching for their first victory of the season; meanwhile, on the flip side, Sundowns are looking at building a solid foundation from last weekend's positive results.

This will be the second festival of the 2025/26 season.

Orlando Pirates will kick off the proceedings on Saturday with a clash against Chippa United at 10:00.

Sundowns and City will face off in the second match of the festival

On Sunday, Magesi FC will be up against Siwelele Sa Masele in the morning. Both teams are searching for their first victory of the season, as they are yet to get a win.

TS Galaxy will entertain the league's reigning champions, Kaizer Chiefs, in the final match of the weekend at 12:30.
