Mechal Sports earned their first three points of the season with a 3-0 forfeit against Wolkite City, but Bahir Dar City claimed a hard-fought 1-0 win over Wolwalo as the Ethiopia Premier League got off to a great start.

Fitsum Alemu was the lone goal scorer for Bahir Dar City when he struck in the 24th minute.

TRANSFERS:

Elsewhere, Yosef Tarekegn moves to Hawassa City from Adama City and Kenean Markeneh extended his desk with Mechal Sports in a deal that will pay him 329k Birrs.

Hawassa Kenema got the license to transfer players from EFF, so this was a great signing for the Lakers

The team will relish the signing of the talented forward, Yosef Tarekegn, from Adama Kenema.

Yosef has been arguably Ethiopia's most promising young talent, and he showed impressive impact in the last two seasons at Adama City.

He was voted the best young player of the Ethiopia Premier League, season 2022/23.

He was reported to be on the verge of an overseas move to the Belgium second division, but it did not materialise, hence he signed for Hawassa City.

Yosef signed a two-year contract for around 350k Birr.

Hawassa has re-signed Ali Suleiman and signed Binyam Belay as well as Wondimagegn Hailu and Tafesse Solomon in attacking midfield position.

The Lakers signed Wondmagegn Maereg from Wolkite Kenema and extended the contracts of Israel Eshetu, Solomon Wodessa, Wondimagegn Hailu, Dawit Tadesse and Mintesnot Ginbo by two years each.

Mekelle 70 Enderta signed two players from other leagues.

Benjamin Afutu from Al Taqodom(Saudi Arabia) and Kofi Kordizi from Al Thadi Benghazi(Libya) are the players who joined Daniel Tsehaye's team.
