Stellenbosch coach Steve Barker is expecting hosts Marumo Gallants to attack his side when they meet in the Betway Premiership in Bloemfontein on Tuesday but still wants his side to take home all three points.

“They're quite an open team. They play with a lot of freedom and attack you, which makes them a difficult team to play at home,” Barker said of their hosts.

Gallants go into the game fresh from beating second-placed Orlando Pirates 2-0 in the Free State capital on Saturday and also put up a good performance last month when they hosted champions Mamelodi Sundowns.

“I think they showed that fight against Sundowns, although they ended up losing but only later on in the game. But up to a certain point, they were very competitive,” the Stellenbosch coach added.

“It won't be an easy game for us. But at the same time, if we want to be finishing in the positions that we want to be finishing in the league, we've got to keep up momentum.”

Stellenbosch drew with Polokwane City in their last outing at home on Friday and sit sixth in the standings.

“We've got to keep getting points. In our last four games, we’ve got two wins, two draws. It just keeps us ticking over, not losing and picking up points.

“But we need to start getting back-to-back wins. That always helps just keep you in the positions that we are hoping to stay in,” added Barker.
