African Super Cup date set

Pyramids of Egypt will take on Morocco’s Renaissance Berkane in the African Super Cup in Cairo next weekend, on October 18, the Confederation of African Football has confirmed.
Pyramids, as winners of the Champions League in June, when they edged Mamelodi Sundowns 3-2 on aggregate in the final, will host the game in Cairo against Berkane, who won the Confederation Cup last season.
The Super Cup is usually played at the home ground of the Champions League, but six of the last Super Cup matches have been played outside of Africa; four in Qatar and the last two editions in Saudi Arabia.
The winning club will receive USD 500 000 in prize money, while the runner-up will take home USD 250 000, Caf said.
Berkane won the Super Cup in 2022 when they beat Champions League winners Wydad Casablanca 2-0 in Rabat. They also appeared the previous year when Al Ahly beat them in Doha.
This is the first time Pyramids will play in the Super Cup, which will be at their home ground, the 30 June Stadium on the outskirts of Cairo. The match kicks off at 7pm CAT.
