Having trailed 13-8 in the first half and then clawed back to lead 18-13 at half-time, South Africa were dominant in the second half with seven tries in the half taking their total for the game to nine. A wonderful performance sees them bounce back from back-to-back defeats. That was an important win for Jacques Nienaber's men. Italy, meanwhile, can hold their heads up high after an immense first half effort.

Jasper Wiese is replaced by the promising 22-year-old Evan Roos, who has been so influential for United Rugby Championship holders the Stormers.

TRY, SPRINGBOKS, SMITH! 16-35: Wiese takes the ball from an attacking lineout and Etzebeth peels away. Italy are at sixes and sevens and Smith gets the finish! Italy have fought valiantly but it will be extremely difficult for them to come back from here.

TRY, SPRINGBOKS, ARENDSE! 16-28: Wonderful move from the Springboks with Libbok at the heart of it all. The last pass is from Kolisi, who feeds Arendse to score almost a carbon copy of his first finish of the game at the other end of the field!

TRY, SPRINGBOKS, KOLBE! 16-23: Wonderful from Kolbe as he beats Morisi to the ball from the kick-off and goes all the way for a crucial try! However, he appears to injure himself in the process and de Klerk has to take the conversion, which he misses. Manie Libbok will come on for his second test cap with the Springboks in need of a kicker.

PENALTY, ITALY, ALLAN! 16-18: Faf de Klerk is penalised and Allan steps up to the tee and knocks the penalty over from in front, 32 metres from posts.

The Springboks have brought Etzebeth, who has probably been their standout player this year, on in place of Moerat.

Off we go for the start of the second half. It's been a topsy-turvy encounter so far -- real end-to-end action -- and this game is still in the balance. It's vital for the Springboks that they get a win on the board after heartbreaking defeats against Ireland and France in their first two matches of their end-of-year tour.

HALF-TIME: ITALY 13-18 SOUTH AFRICA. The Boks head into the break five points to the good. They suffered a traumatic defeat to Italy during the Allister Coetzee era and there were signs in the early minutes that a repeat might be on the cards, but the Boks battled back with Mbonambi getting their second try after Arendse opened the scoring and Capuozzo responded.

The Springboks survive the spell of pressure and they will look to launch something from a lineout on their own 10m line.
