Stellenbosch have been drawn against holders Zamalek in the quarterfinal of the African Confederation Cup after the draw conducted in Doha, Qatar, on Thursday.

Stellenbosch have reached the last eight in their maiden appearance in the competition after finishing as runners-up to Renaissance Berkane of Morocco in Group B.

Stellenbosch will host the first leg of quarterfinal tie on Thursday, 3 April with the return match away in Cairo one week later.

Steve Barker’s side were the first drawn out of the hat and then pitted against the Egyptian giants.

Should they win the tie, Stellenbosch will then advance to the semifinal against either Al Masry of Egypt or Tanzania’s Simba, coached by South African Fadlu Davids.

In the semifinal, either Stellenbosch or Zamalek will get home advantage in the second leg on 27 April. The first leg is set for 20 April.

If they get to the final, the Winelands clubs will also have home advantage in the second leg of the final on 25 May. The first leg is set for 17 May.

Morocco’s Berkane, who beat Stellenbosch both home and away in the group stage, will be up against ASEC Abidjan from the Ivory Coast in their quarterfinal while there is an all-Algerian clash between CS Constantine and USM Alger, who were the Confederation Cup victors in 2023.
