Kaizer Chiefs let a lead slip in their 2-2 draw with TS Galaxy in a DStv Premiership match played at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Tuesday night.

As a result, Amakhosi remained eighth in the league standings - just three points above 12th-placed AmaZulu FC.

Coach Cavin Johnson's side are set to travel to Durban to lock horns with AmaZulu on 12 May.

Galaxy, on the other hand, remained fifth in the league standings - two points behind fourth-placed Sekhukhune United.

Coach Sead Ramovic's side will be away to Cape Town City on 12 May in the Mother City.

Amakhosi got off to a promising start with Ranga Chivaviro looking to bully the Rockets' defence with his imposing physique.

The former Baroka FC striker broke the deadlock in the 18th minute to hand Chiefs a 1-0 lead after outpowering Mpho Mvelase.

However, Chiefs were shaky at the back and Edmilson Dove conceded a penalty which was converted by Sphiwe Mahlangu in the 32nd minute to make it 1-1.

Things went from bad to worse for Chiefs when they were reduced to 10 players following Dove's dismissal in the 45th minute and the score was 1-1 at halftime.

Despite being numerically disadvantaged, Amakhosi launched attacks after the restart and they managed to restore their lead.

Chivaviro grabbed his brace when he beat goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari to hand the hosts a 2-1 lead just five minutes into the second half.

Both teams pushed for a late goal in the latter stages of the encounter and Sphiwe Mahlangu grabbed his brace to make it 2-2 in the 76th minute.

Brandon Petersen, who was on the Chiefs bench, was sent off in the 87th minute as the two teams drew 2-2 on the night.
