Ighodaro breaks Arrows' hearts to hand AmaZulu win
AmaZulu FC secured a 1-0 victory over Golden Arrows in the Betway Premiership match played at the Mpumalanga Stadium in Hammarsdale in Durban on Saturday afternoon.
As a result, Usuthu climbed to the sixth spot in the league standings after recording their 11th win of the season.
Coach Arthur Zwane's side will host Polokwane City on 2 May as the league action continues.
Abafana Bes'thende, on the other hand, remain 11th in the standings after registering their eighth loss of the term.
Arrows will play host to Stellenbosch FC on 3 May in another league game.
Usuthu started the match brightly and they were able to test goalkeeper Edward Maova two minutes before the half-hour mark, but the Namibia international saved a long-range attempt from Ben Motshwari.
Maova was once again called into action in first-half stoppage time and this time, the former University of Pretoria star produced a decent save to deny Etiosa Ighodaro.
The score was 0-0 at the interval in Hammarsdale.
Arrows coach Manqoba Mngqithi made a change 15 minutes into the second half - introducing Siphesihle Msomi, who looked to make an immediate impact.
The 26-year-old's attempt was well-saved by keeper Richard Ofori in the 65th minute.
However, it was the visitors who snatched a late winning goal when Tshepang Moremi set up Ighodaro, who beat Maova with a header to hand AmaZulu a late 1-0 victory in the KwaZulu-Natal Derby encounter.
