Day 3: Knights and Lions lose Day 3 due to a wet outfield

The Knights and the DP World Lions failed to take to the field due to a wet outfield on the third day of their CSA 4-Day Series match at the Mangaung Oval.
This is the third successive day that the two sides have lost to either inclement weather or a wet surface. Each lost session makes things worse for the hosts, who came into the tie in need of a victory buttressed by a few other results pulling in their favour to avoid relegation.
The Free State side was the first team to slide down to Division 2 after the domestic system restructure in 2022/23. JP Triegaardt did an outstanding job as he masterminded the Knights' return to the top flight. His strategic brilliance earned him the Division 2 Coach of the Year Award at the CSA Awards in September last year.
Triegaardt's side has not had a great red-ball campaign, they won their first encounter, and haven't been able to replicate that performance. They drew two and lost two in their next four outings.
The Lions' campaign, on the other hand, couldn't be more different. Russell Domingo's side hasn't lost a match in the competition. They have won the most matches, three, in the tournament, and drew the other three. They look certain to retain the top spot. This will give them a home advantage in the final. Should they make it all the way, to win the title, this will be their second four-day trophy in consecutive seasons.
