Sekhukhune United coach and former South Africa star Eric Tinkler was angry after a 1-1 draw with TS Galaxy on Sunday in the South African Premiership.

He lamented dropping two points in Soweto as third-placed United chase qualification for the 2025/2026 CAF Confederation Cup.

"This should have been the easiest of our remaining five league fixures," said Tinkler, a midfielder when South Africa hosted and won the 1996 Africa Cup of Nations.

"I was counting on three points from this match before tougher ones that lie ahead, starting with a visit to (second-placed) Orlando Pirates on Wednesday."

Nigerian Chibuike Ohizu scored his fifth Premiership goal of the campaign by tapping the ball into the net at the far post on 65 minutes to put visiting Sekhukhune ahead.

But the lead lasted only five minutes before Kamogelo Sebelebele connected with a cross and his looping shot flew over goalkeeper Renaldo Leaner into the net to earn fifth-placed Galaxy a point.

Sekhukhune have 41 points as they seek a third consecutive appearance in the Confederation Cup, the African equivalent of the Uefa Europa League.

Fourth-placed Stellenbosch, who were eliminated in the Confederation Cup semifinals this season, are three points behind having played one match less.
