Dithejane dazzles as Galaxy edge Arrows

TS Galaxy bounced back to winning ways in the Betway Premiership when they defeated Golden Arrows 2-1 in a match played at the Mbombela Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The victory elevated the Rockets to the sixth spot in the league standings after recording their sixth win of the season in the competition. Coach Adnan Beganovic's side will be away to Polokwane City on November 29 as they look to make it two wins in a row.

Abafana Bes'thende, on the other hand, are placed ninth in the standings after registering their seventh league defeat of the campaign. Coach Manqoba Mngqithi's side will play host to AmaZulu FC on December 3 in the KZN Derby showdown.

Puso Dithejane was one of the players tipped to impress coming into this match and he did not disappoint as the Kaizer Chiefs academy product showed why he was named Betway Premiership Player of the Month for August 2025.

The deadlock was broken in the 17th minute and it was Dithejane who hit the back of the net to hand the hosts the lead, with Mehdi Ouamri providing the assist. Galaxy were leading 1-0 at the interval, thanks to Dithejane's fourth goal of the season.

Abafana Bes'thende were determined to level matters after the restart, with Sbonelo Cele hitting the woodwork in the 54th minute and the Betway Premiership's top scorer Junior Sere Dion saw his effort being saved by goalkeeper Ira Eliezer Tapé a minute after the hour mark.

However, Mory Keita scored in the 83rd minute to double Galaxy's lead after the visitors' defence was exposed. The final stages of the game saw Keenan Phillips score what proved to be Arrows' consolation goal as Galaxy were then able to hold on to secure a 2-1 win
