Peter Shalulile will likely have a further opportunity on Wednesday to move closer to the Premier Soccer League’s goalscoring record after he netted twice at the weekend in the 4-0 thumping of Lamontville Golden Arrows.

The 31-year-old Namibian ace moved to 125 career goals in top flight matches after his double against Arrows in Atteridgeville on Sunday, coming on as a first half substitute to help his club consolidate their leadership in the Betway Premiership.

This season, Shalulile has scored four league goals, two in the Carling Knockout and two in the Champions League and is moving steadily closer to the 129-goal record set by Siyabonga Nomvete.

Shalulile has not always been a starter for his club his season, losing his place in the line-up to Iqraam Rayners but Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso has reiterated the importance of the goal ace.

“Peter is a player we trust so much, but basically, we trust everybody. He's giving been giving answers of late,” said Cardoso.

“I’ve told him, ‘Peter, please just understand one thing. If you're not going to be played today, it's because eventually you're going to play tomorrow.”
