With the Premier Soccer League season coming to a close this month, clubs in the Betway Premiership are beginning to offload unwanted players.

Already the two Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates have begun the process with three players shown the door.

Pirates, who finished in second place in the league standings and were also runners-up in the Nedbank Cup, have announced the departure of Miguel Timm at the end of his contract while Njabulo Blom and Sabelo Radebe have left Kaizer Chiefs.

The 33-year-old Timm played only 49 minutes for Pirates this season, appearing in three cup ties as a substitute.

He did not make a single league appearance, falling down the pecking order of defensive midfielders at the club.

He was at Pirates for three seasons and helped the club to MTN8 success in 2022 and 2023 and to win the Nedbank Cup in 2023.

He had won the same trophy previously with Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila.

Blom’s one-season loan spell with Chiefs has ended and the 25-year-old is headed back to St Louis City after a disappointing time at Chiefs where he failed to show the form that had seen him move to Major League Soccer in early 2023.

He last started a game for Chiefs in March.

They have also released 25-year-old midfielder Sabelo Radebe, who spent last season on loan at Richards Bay.

He came through the academy ranks at Chiefs but started only four matches in four seasons with them.
