Royal AM Football Club has been officially withdrawn from the 2025 Nedbank Cup following a decision by the National Soccer League (NSL) Executive Committee.

The ruling was made after the committee convened on Monday to review further representations from Royal AM’s management and the appointed Curator overseeing the club.

According to an official statement, the decision was reached in agreement with Royal AM and the Curator, with time constraints cited as the primary reason for their exit from the tournament.

As a result of Royal AM’s withdrawal, the Nedbank Cup fixture schedule has been revised. The match initially affected – fixture number 21 – will now see Milford FC face Sekhukhune United on Sunday, 2 March 2025, at 3pm. The clash is set to take place at Princess Magogo Stadium.

The League has assured fans that details regarding ticket sales for the fixture will be announced in due course.

“Having reviewed these representations, the Executive Committee, in concurrence with Royal AM and the Curator, resolved that Royal AM Football Club will take no further part in the Nedbank Cup competition this season, in the interest of time,” said the statement.

Royal AM’s exclusion from the competition raises further questions about the club’s ongoing struggles, but for now, the focus shifts to Milford and Sekhukhune United as they prepare to battle for a place in the next round.

The Pietermaritzburg-based club have not played a match since the end of last year and now also face expulsion from the league, where they have had all scheduled matches since January postponed.
