JDR Stars & Milford on the prowl at MFC summit
With Durban City dropping points at the top of the Motsepe Foundation Championship, the likes of JDR Stars and Milford FC will be hoping to capitalise on the log leader’s slight dip in form heading into matchday 17 of South Africa’s first division this weekend.
Following Durban City’s 1-0 loss against Casric Stars last week, the club formerly known as Maritzburg United saw their lead at the top of the pile slashed down to just a single point after second placed JDR Stars bagged a 2-1 win against Leruma United in Matchday 16.
This week, Durban City will take on Kruger United at the Chatsworth Stadium on Friday, with the Mpumalanga side hoping to get back to winning ways following their 3-1 defeat against Pretoria Callies last time out.
Elsewhere, third placed Milford FC could make it two wins on the spin when they take on an inconsistent Cape Town Spurs side at the Athlone Stadium on Friday.
While the Urban Warriors have won just three matches in the league this season, Ernst Middendorp and his charges head into their next league assignment in 14th position on the log.
Milford however, are gunning for a PSL playoff promotion place this season and trail Durban City by three points ahead of this weekend’s fixture list.
