Kaizer Chiefs triumphantly seized the derby bragging rights on Sunday by vanquishing their Soweto adversaries, Orlando Pirates, with a commanding 2-0 victory at Solomon Mahlangu Stadium.

Despite an abysmal outset to the season, Amakhosi seem to be navigating towards a resurgence, as this win against Pirates marks their second consecutive triumph. Just last weekend, they rekindled their winning spirit by dispatching Polokwane City with a decisive 3-0 scoreline at Dobsonville Stadium.

Heading into the derby, Pirates were perceived as the frontrunners poised to secure maximum points, but the reality proved otherwise. Kamogelo Malepo and Naledi Hlongwane both graced the score sheet for Amakhosi. Despite their setback, Pirates will maintain their perch atop the DStv Diski Challenge table, contemplating another victory.
