The 2024/25 DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) season has been one to forget for Marumo Gallants.

Since the season started, things have not fallen into place for Bahlabane Ba Ntwa. After 15 matches, they are the only team to have not won a match in the Diski Challenge. They have lost 13 games, drew three times and that leaves them languishing at the bottom of the table with a mere three points.

Their string of poor results has resulted in them changing coaches a couple of times since the season started. At the beginning of the year, the club roped in former Polokwane City FC coach Willy Moloto as their new DDC head coach.

The ambitious Moloto has already been in charge of three matches and according to his view, it is just a matter of time before Gallants start winning matches.

"I have been in charge of three matches against Golden Arrows, Kaizer Chiefs, and Orlando Pirates. What I saw in those games is very promising. We should have gotten all the points against Chiefs and Arrows and maybe a draw against Pirates," stated Moloto on his stint so far with City.

He added: "We are a work in progress, as coaches we need to instill a positive mentality in these players, and they will start getting results. Some of these boys were rushed to play DDC.

Despite their well-documented struggles when it comes to getting results, Moloto said they have a couple of good players who will be promoted to the first team.

"On a positive note, we do have about four players who are on the verge of transitioning from DDC to become senior players."

Marumo, who have not been so Gallant so far this season host AmaZulu this weekend at CUT Stadium in Bloemfontein. Moloto is optimistic that this could be the match they use to turn around tables.

Moloto is not new in the DDC setup as he was once with Polokwane City in 2019 coaching the likes of Lesiba Nku who are now playing in the elite league.
