Power Dynamos draw with Nkana FC, stay on course for title

Power Dynamos left it late to claim a point in the Kitwe Derby against hosts Nkana FC but their 1-1 draw in the MTN Super League moves them a step closer to the title this season.
They are four points ahead of second-placed Zesco United, who beat relegation-threatened Lumwana Radiants 1-0 on Monday to keep their slim hopes alive with two rounds to play.
Dynamos needed an injury-time penalty from Brian Masaninga to rescue a point against Nkana FC, who had taken the lead via Jacob Ngulube just past the hour mark.
The draw ends a run of 10 straight league wins for Dynamos, which have seen them catapulted into first place in recent months.
One more victory in their final two games will ensure Dynamos are champions for an eighth time, with fixtures at home to Green Eagles (scheduled for May 3) and away at Nchanga Rangers (May 17) to come.
Freddy Michael scored the only goal of the game as Zesco kept up the heat on the leaders, and they go to Mutondo Stars and host Atletico Lusaka in their final two games.
Forest Rangers improved their chances of survival with a 1-0 win at Mufulira Wanderers, handed to them by Hope Katwishi after 15 minutes. They are now a point behind Zanaco in the safety of 14th, and their win ended a run of nine straight draws.
Zanaco lost 2-0 at Nchanga Rangers as Christopher Itaka and Luzeka Sama scored in the first half, and are only put out of the bottom four on goal difference.
They have 36 points, the same number as Atletico Lusaka, but they are ahead of the latter on goal difference.

Atletico lost 2-1 at home to Mutondo Stars, a game they would have seen as a big opportunity to get out of the relegation places.
Chris Mwansa and Ghanaian Richmond Adongo netted for Stars to give them a 2-0 lead, before Atletico pulled one back through Benjamin Chisala, but they were unable to find an equaliser.
Defending champions Red Arrows beat bottom side Indeni FC 2-1 thanks to Alassane Diara’s brace. Jonathan Munalula had given the already-relegated visitors an early lead.
Green Eagles moved two points clear of the drop zone thanks to a 2-2 draw with Green Buffaloes.
Buffaloes twice led, thanks to goals from Bornwell Mwape, but Simon Mulenga and Mathias Tito equalised for the hosts.
Napsa Stars are now four points clear of the drop zone after they also drew 2-2 with Kabwe Warriors.
Evans Kayombo gave Stars the lead, but they needed an injury-time equaliser from Godfrey Binga to rescue a point. Saith Sakala and Mwamba Mutombo netted for the Warriors.
FC Muza claimed a 2-1 win at Nkwazi that just about guarantees their safety as they moved five points clear of the drop zone with two rounds to play.
Javier Mum and Given Kalusa scored either side of a goal by Mathews Mashimikilo for Nkwazi.
