Dynamos have sights on MTN Super League crown ahead of Kitwe Derby

Power Dynamos could be crowned champions of the MTN Super League on Sunday when they travel to Nkana FC in the Kitwe Derby in Ndola, which would be a historic moment for the club to lift the trophy against their local rivals.
Dynamos are seeking an eighth Zambian league title and look certain to complete the job, perhaps even this weekend.
They currently have a six-point lead over second-placed Zesco United with three rounds remaining in the championship, and are nine points ahead of Nkana. Dynamos’ +31 goal-difference is virtually worth another point compared to Zesco (+13) and Nkana (+20).
Should they draw or win and Zesco fail to beat relegation-threatened Lumwana Radiants at home on Saturday and the title will be mathematically assured.
But even a Dynamos victory coupled with a Zesco win will realistically put them on the very brink of the title and make it almost certain they will be champions.
Dynamos come into the game with Nkana on the back of 10 straight wins, in which time they have conceded only a single goal. Nkana have been in goof form themselves and are unbeaten in six (W4 D2).
Nkana have won the last two clashes between the sides, though the four before that were won by Dynamos. A feature of this fixture is a lack of draws, just six in the last 32 league meetings.
Zesco have to hope they slip up and beat Radiants, who are two points from safety at the foot of the table.
Indeni are the only side already relegated having managed to win only three of their 31 games to date.
Second-bottom Forest Rangers are four points adrift of safety and could conceivably be relegated this weekend. They are at seventh-placed Mufulira Wanderers having remarkably drawn their last nine games, five of those by 0-0 scorelines.
Mutondo Stars are the other side in the bottom four and they host Atletico Lusaka, who are two points ahead of them, in a real relegation six-pointer.
Zanaco are two point clear of the drop-zone but still in danger as they go to Nchanga Rangers, who are a point better off.
All teams from ninth-placed Napsa Stars, who have 39 points, will still be sweating on the relegation equation.
Other games on Saturday see Red Arrows host Indeni, Nkwazi welcome FC Muza, Green Eagles entertain Green Buffaloes and Kabwe Warriors go to Napsa Stars.
