Durban City bring some joy to gloomy week

In what has been a sad week to all those associated with Durban City, the KwaZulu-Natal side recorded a crucial 3-0 win against Pretoria Callies in their latest Motsepe Foundation Championship assignment at the Chatsworth Stadium on Friday.
After Durban City’s clash against Milford was suspended on Tuesday night as a result of Sinamandla Zondi’s passing, the club, formerly known as Maritzburg United, continued their quest for PSL Promotion this past Friday.
Their victory against Callies was their 14th of the 2024/25 campaign, while the club have accumulated 49 points in 26 matches as they lead the way at the top of the pile.
At the other end of the log, Callies extended their losing streak to four matches and currently occupy 15th position.
Also, Black Leopards carried their positive form into this weekend’s first division action after claiming a 1-0 win against Milford on Sunday afternoon.
Sitting in third position, Leopards recently added their name to the list of potential PSL promotion competitors as they increased their unbeaten run in the league to seven matches.
Elsewhere, bottom-of-the-log Leruma United could only manage a 1-1 draw with the University of Pretoria on Saturday afternoon.
As Leruma battle to stay in the division, their latest result saw them amass just 25 points from 27 games so far.
