Durban City returned to winning ways in the Motsepe Foundation Championship this week, while JDR Stars, Milford and Orbit College dropped crucial points in their respective matchday 17 fixtures.

Following their loss to Casric Stars last week, Durban City bagged an important 1-0 win against Kruger United at the Chatsworth Stadium on Friday afternoon.

The result was particularly pleasing to Durban City given their pursuit of PSL promotion this season and opened a four-point lead over the chasing pack as a result.

Also, second-placed JDR Stars were on the receiving end of a 3-1 defeat against Casric Stars at the Solomon Mahlangu Stadium on Friday, while third-placed Milford FC and Cape Town Spurs shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw at the Athlone Stadium.

As it stands, JDR Stars trail Durban City by four points, while Milford’s draw saw them drop five points away from the automatic promotion position.

Elsewhere, Orbit College were left frustrated following a 1-1 draw with Upington City at the Olympia Park Stadium on Friday afternoon.

The result saw Orbit fall further down the log order, with five points separating them from log leaders Durban City.
