Spurs move up in MFC, Leruma remain bottom

Cape Town Spurs made small strides in their pursuit of remaining in the 2024/25 Motsepe Foundation Championship this weekend, while Venda Football Academy suffered defeat in Thohoyandou.
The Urban Warriors went into their Gameweek 24 fixture sitting in 15th position on the table and recorded a 1-1 draw with Leruma United at the Athlone Stadium on Friday.
While Venda Football Academy suffered a 1-0 loss to Black Leopards at the Thohoyandou Stadium on Saturday, the Urban Warriors thus moved up one place, while Venda took up 15th position.
Unfortunately for Leruma, the Daveyton side will remain at the bottom of the pile for the time being after seeing out their 5th straight draw..
Elsewhere, second placed Kruger United bagged a crucial 2-1 win against Milford this weekend as they keep their finger on the pulse amid a gruelling chase for PSL promotion.
Also, Casric Stars extended their unbeaten streak to four matches with a 1-0 win against Highbury at the Gelvandale Stadium on Friday afternoon.
With Casric Stars sitting on 39 points after 24 matches played, 4th positioned Orbit College kept up with the pace at the top end of the table following their 1-0 win against Pretoria Callies at the Olympia Park Stadium on Saturday. As it stands, Orbit are level on points with Casric Stars, with the latter holding a slender goal difference advantage.
Elsewhere, log leaders Durban City stuttered in a 1-1 draw with the University of Pretoria at the Tuks Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The result saw Durban City’s lead at the top of the table cut down to six points following Kruger United’s victory in Durban.
