Buccaneers bag late three points
Orlando Pirates are back to winning ways in the Betway Premiership as they bagged a late winner to defeat Cape Town City F.C. at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday.
Both sides entered the fixture having lost their previous league game, but it was the Buccaneers who returned to top form in dramatic fashion.
The results sees Pirates cut Mamelodi Sundowns’ lead at the top of the table to single digits, pending the outcome of their clash against TS Galaxy in Atteridgeville this evening.

Cape Town City, on the other hand, are now winless in their last five league games as they failed to snap their disappointing streak.
Amabhakabhaka applied relentless pressure to start the game, dominating the first 20 minutes of play, but failing to capitalise on their chances.
Despite the Buccaneers’ hungry start, it was Cape Town City who found the opening goal in the 21st minute as Prins Tjiueza’s cross traveled uninterrupted across the box, finding Hasshim Domingo who bagged his long-awaited first goal of the season.
City continued to rely on their pace on the counterattack and had the chance to double their lead just four minutes later. However, Kayden Francis failed to find the open Tjiueza and exploit the 2-on-1 opportunity before having his pocket picked.
Tshegofatso Mabasa continued his fine form as he netted to draw the Bucs level in the 67th minute, capitalising on substitute Mohau Nkota’s cross to beat City’s goalkeeper Darren Keet and find the bottom right corner.
The Cityzens always know where to hit Orlando Pirates 😤🔥

Pirates came close to scoring a second in the 71st minute, as substitute Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo’s effort from well beyond the box was saved by Keet.
Pirates found the eventual winner in the 87th minute as Goodman Mosele prodded the ball into the back of the net following a scuffle on the line.
Orlando Pirates are supposed to face Royal AM on Tuesday. However, the match is postponed until further notice due to the Pietermaritzburg-based side’s situation. The Buccaneers will look to get back to winning ways when they tackle struggling Marumo Gallants F.C. on Saturday 1 March.
Cape Town City are next in action away from home against AmaZulu F.C. on Sunday 2 March.
