Magesi pip SuperSport United in Limpopo
Magesi returned to the winning column in the Betway Premiership this weekend following a hard-fought 1-0 win against SuperSport United at the Seshego Stadium outside Polokwane on Saturday afternoon.
Despite SSU dominating for large parts of the encounter, Mcedi Vandala won and converted a second-half penalty that ended Magesi’s two-match losing streak.

Matsatsantsa were the more progressive side during the first 10 minutes of the match, while the likes of Aphiwe Baliti and Lebohang Maboe created goal-scoring chances early on.
With SuperSport seeing most of the ball during this period, Magesi struggled to make way into the opposition half.
SuperSport United continued to dominate the ball possession statistic midway through the first half, but often fell short in the final third of the pitch.
Despite Magesi recording a couple of shots at goal, it was still not enough to trouble the SSU backline.
As the half came to an end, the travelling side took the direct route in an attempt to affect the scoreline, mostly via failed attempts from range.
Nevertheless, the score remained at 0-0 at the end of the first 45 as neither side were able to make the most of their opportunities.
Magesi immediately went on the attack at the beginning of the second half, as seen with Lehlohonolo Mtshali’s attempt at goal in the 48th minute.
With SSU momentarily on the back foot, the Tshwane giants were served with a couple of nervy moments leading up to the hour-mark.
As a result of their forward pressure, Magesi were awarded a penalty in the 66th minute after Vandala drew a foul inside the area.
After stepping up to the spot, Vandala made no mistake from 12-yards out and put his side ahead with a left-footed shot.
SuperSport were forced to play on the front foot after conceding and racked up the goal-scoring opportunities count in the process.
Magesi settled into game-management mode during the closing stages of the match in an attempt to preserve their lead.
Magesi did well to keep their advantage intact and ended the game with maximum points in the bag.
