Milford moved to the top of the Motsepe Foundation Championship standings this weekend following a much-needed victory over Highbury on Sunday, while Casric Stars suffered their second defeat of the campaign.

Casric Stars entered this weekend’s list of Motsepe Foundation Championship fixtures in pole position, but ultimately slipped down into second-place owing to a 3-2 loss against Kruger United on Saturday.

More interestingly, Kruger United are now level on points with Casric (22) in third position, while Milford leapfrogged both of the abovementioned sides following their 2-0 win over Highbury on Sunday.

Milford were in desperate need of a victory this weekend, given that they entered Sunday’s fixture on a three-match winless streak that included one loss and two stalemates.

As it stands, Milford have now accumulated 24 points after 12 matches played, two points ahead of Casric Stars and Kruger United.

Elsewhere, Cape Town City failed to gather winning momentum this weekend after recording a 0-0 draw with Upington City on Saturday.

The Citizens have now jotted down four draws in the 25/26 campaign, with only three wins to their name in 11 matches played as they ended their latest league assignment in 11th spot.
